One of the most important subjects that need to be emphasized in Turkey in the face of global developments is the wise utilization of resources. This situation depends on the realization of investment, production and employment reforms by political and economic actors. The working population of a country to have a strong structure is seen as the basic element of the country’s development. Today, many countries, including Turkey, are struggling to find a solution to the problem of unemployment. Although countries that have achieved success on unemployment are in the developed category, some developed countries have not been able to overcome the problem of unemployment.
One of the methods of increasing employment is the development of entrepreneurship and the establishment of new enterprises. The most important means for countries to free their economies from external dependence and to establish a functioning structure based on production is to promote the entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship has gained importance not only for the career planning of individual decision makers but also for the actors responsible for economic development. Entrepreneurship is one of the most effective means in economic and social development today. In this context, within the framework of this project supported by the Development Agency within the scope of the 2013 Direct Activity Support Programme, suitable investment areas were identified for Akyazı county of Sakarya province and investments were made in these areas.
Market and Demand Analysis
Structure and Characteristics of the Sector
According to the results of the General Agricultural Census, there are 4.068.432 enterprises in rural areas of Turkey. While 72.14% of these enterprises consist of polyculture enterprises where plant and animal production are carried out together, only-animal production is carried out in 3.43% of these enterprises. The majority of the enterprises in the livestock breeding sector are small-scale, closed economy type family enterprises engaged in conventional production. In the sector, 84% of the dairy cattle farms, which is a major part of them, have 1-4 heads of animals. On the other hand, 87% of feeder cattle enterprises have less than 10 animals. The general situation in sheep farming enterprises is not different from the others. Of these enterprises, 72.2% of them have animals under 50 heads.
Dairy Cattle Breeding Investment envisaged to be made in Akyazı county of Sakarya province continues in a conventional style both in our country and in our region. Except for a few large companies in our province, bovine breeding is generally carried out with domestic breeds with low productivity. Within the scope of this investment plan, it will be possible to increase the idle work force in the enterprise by providing more income from animals per unit and will make sustainability in production permanent with the semi-open barn projects where milk production is carried out in accordance with modern European Union Standards and hygienic conditions, animal welfare, health and breeding are applied, which will provide nutrition, shelter and breeding opportunities with an intensive approach instead of the existing conventional closed barn systems. The livestock breeding investment planned in this feasibility report is intended to realize milk producing agribusiness activity.
Market Size and Profile
Animal Asset
Nowadays, as individuals have become more conscious about nutrition and animal products have a vital importance in adequate and balanced nutrition, livestock breeding holds an important place in our country as it does in the whole world. In addition, it contributes to the solution of many problems such as social and economic problems.
Milk Production
Turkey’s geographical structure and climatic conditions to be suitable for agriculture and livestock breeding have increased our effectiveness in the market share. In addition, agricultural products and among these, milk and dairy products are of great importance in terms of providing employment as well as community nutrition. While 35% of the country’s population lives in rural areas, approximately 45% of them are employed in agricultural enterprises and the population density residing in rural areas and working in agricultural enterprises shows the importance of the contribution of agricultural production to employment. In Turkey, the share of the agricultural sector in national income is 15%and the share of livestock breeding in the agricultural sector is 23%. In developed countries, the share of livestock breeding in agricultural production is on the level of 60-70%. In our country, milk and dairy industry remains in the second plan.
Information On The Facility Location
With the operation of Sakarya/Akyazı Biogas Plant, organic wastes will be accepted from settlements engaged in agriculture and livestock breeding in the vicinity, especially in Akyazı, and biogas will be obtained from these animal wastes (fattening, silt cow, chicken faeces, etc.), and at the end of the process, electricity, 1s1 and solid and liquid fermented product output will be obtained.
Distance to settlement areas, predominant wind direction, topographic conditions, transportation facilities, distance to raw material resources were taken into consideration during the location selection of the facility area. A decision has been taken in accordance with Article 10 (1) clause of the Communiqué on Mechanical Separation, Bio drying and Biomethanisation Plants and Fermented Product Management regarding the suitability of the site selection.
Works Made With Foreign Countries
Precontract has been signed with the Republic of Mali and the Republic of Senegal for power plants, agriculture-livestock breeding, infrastructure-road-water-air, housing and hospitals.
